When was the last time you went on an amazing summer holiday to a lush tropical destination? More and more people realize how amazing a few weeks at the beach can be and they are starting to travel as much as possible, but it’s definitely not easy saving up the money. That is not because they aren’t paid enough money, but you usually find that they spend what they do have on crap. People have just forgotten how to save and it’s affecting their lives in a negative way.
If you want to be able to go on holiday when you have some well-deserved time off work you’re going to need to make some changes in your life. Maybe they might seem simple to some, but when you’re not doing them the money you’re letting slip out of your hands really starts to build up over the course of a whole year. Take a look at some of these fantastic tips and you should you take action on them you will have the money you need when you want to get away on your holiday.
Carry a flask to work
Coffee is something we all love to drink in the morning, but just because they open up fancy coffee shops all over the place doesn’t mean we need to give them $5 every single day. Some people need more than one and they find themselves spending a huge amount of money each day to get their caffeine fix. If you carry a flask around with you it will give you all the coffee you need while you’re at work. You might not look like a cool kid, but you’ll save hundreds per month.
Take lunch with you
Why do people feel the need to spend a crazy amount of money on average lunches every day of the week? Some think it’s convenient and it saves them from preparing food every night. You could easily cook a huge batch of something at the weekend and freeze it in individual portions. If you take one out of the freezer each night it will be ready for you taking into work the next day. Either heat it up in a microwave at work or do it at home and put the food in a food flask.
Enjoy the fresh air
You don’t need to jump in your car whenever you want to go somewhere. I understand that it’s convenient and sometimes the easiest option is the most attractive, but have you looked at the price of gas these days? Why would you take the car when you could easily walk or cycle a short distance? You will also get a lot fitter doing it this way, so when you do go on holiday you’ll have a lovely body to be proud of when you’re at the beach.
Pay your bills
When you owe something it’s very easy to forget to pay. The only problem with this is the charge they add onto your bill. Some charges you’ll get are nothing more than daylight robbery and it wipes out a huge chunk of your wages before you do anything. You need to learn that keeping on top of everything is the only way you can guarantee you’ll not get stung unexpectedly. Always know what is in your bank account and open your mail as soon as you get it.
Don’t pay for things on credit
If you can’t afford something then you shouldn’t be buying it. You might be annoyed by that, but that is just the way it is. Your mortgage is the one exception. People spend far too much money on a car that they can’t afford and it only gets them from A to B. They buy televisions they can’t afford because bigger always seems to be better. When you pay interest on something you are throwing good money away for nothing.
